The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum is located in San Jose, California and was founded by the Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis (AMORC). It houses the largest collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the Western United States and is supported by the Rosicrucian Order. As a project, I redesigned the museum's identity system, including a logo, poster, and website page. The museum offers various educational and scientific activities for visitors of all ages. To improve user experience, I opted for a modern and clean flat style for the logo, ensuring readability on different screens. The poster design drew inspiration from Egyptian symbols and gods, featuring three prominent characters and a background resembling papyrus paper. Additionally, a QR code was added to provide easy access to more information about the museum.
As one of the countries with rich history and culture, Egypt has several iconic symbols, such as pyramid and hieroglyph. I came up with three designs with Egyptian elements to create a clear impression for the audience. However, because the logo will be used on the website and mobile app, I noticed the second and the third logos would lose details due to too many lines and decorative elements. So I decided to use the pyramid as the logo. It is one of the recognizable representations in Egypt, and I believe it would be an identical and memorable logo for this museum. I added different color shapes of lines onto the pyramid to achieve some contrasts to the surface. I got inspired by the pictures I collected for my mood board, so I think gold and black would be a good color choice for the logo.
